Understanding ICBC Coverage

ICBC typically provides pre-approved physiotherapy sessions within the first 12 weeks after a motor vehicle accident.

This means:

  • A doctor’s referral is not required
  • No upfront payment for approved claims
  • We bill ICBC directly on your behalf

If your accident occurred more than 12 weeks ago, continued coverage may still be possible. We can help communicate with ICBC to clarify your current coverage and treatment options.

How to Start ICBC Physiotherapy

Getting started is simple:

  1. Have your ICBC claim number ready
  2. Book your initial physiotherapy assessment
  3. We confirm and direct bill ICBC for your sessions

If you’re unsure about your claim status, you’re welcome to call us before booking—we’ll walk through it together.

Your First Visit: What to Expect

Your first appointment includes:

  • A conversation about your symptoms and accident experience
  • A gentle movement assessment
  • Time to ask questions and share your concerns or goals
  • Beginning treatment at a pace that feels manageable

We prioritize:

  • Clear explanations without medical jargon
  • Checking in often about comfort
  • Gradual progression that feels supportive rather than rushed

Our Treatment Approach

Physiotherapy after an accident is most effective when it adapts to your changing needs. Your treatment plan may include:

  • Gentle manual therapy to support ease of movement
  • Stretching and guided mobility strategies
  • Strengthening to support stability and posture
  • Nervous system regulation strategies (breathing, pacing, relaxation)
  • Education on activity planning for daily life

Your physiotherapist regularly checks in and adjusts your plan as symptoms evolve.

Understanding Recovery

Recovery after a collision may happen gradually. Some days may feel easier than others, which is a normal part of the process. Your physiotherapist will help you understand why symptoms may fluctuate and how to support your body through these changes.

We aim to support:

  • Movement confidence
  • Comfortable pacing of daily activities
  • Awareness of helpful patterns for rest, work, and exercise
