What Our Patients Say About Us

We created Revitalize Physiotherapy with the goal of providing high-quality, compassionate, individualized care. We work diligently to ensure that all our patients’ needs are met, and expectations of what a physiotherapy clinic should be, are surpassed. Our patients are our priority, and we are so grateful to be able to help in their recovery.

What Is TMJ Dysfunction?

There is a big difference between the type of insoles that can be purchased at a local drug store and those that are custom-made. Custom orthotics are medical devices designed to address your specific needs and offer more than simply additional cushioning. Custom orthotics provide:

  • Jaw Muscles Pain: A constant ache around the jaw or face.
  • Clicking or Popping Sounds: Noises when you open or close your mouth.
  • Limited Jaw Movement: Difficulty chewing or speaking due to restricted mobility.
  • Headaches & Neck Pain: Referred pain caused by jaw tension.

If left untreated, the symptoms of TMJ can worsen, causing chronic pain and even long-term damage. That’s where our tailored TMJ physiotherapy in Surrey comes in.

Our Approach to TMJ Physiotherapy

At Revitalize Physiotherapy and Sports Clinic, we believe in treating the whole person, not just the symptoms. Our tailored TMJ physiotherapy program involves the following:

Comprehensive Assessment

We start with a detailed jaw, neck, and posture assessment. This helps us identify the underlying causes of your TMJ dysfunction, such as muscle imbalances, poor posture, or previous injuries.

Personalized Treatment Plan

Your treatment plan will be fully customized, incorporating:

  • Manual Therapy: Hands-on joint mobilization techniques to relieve muscle tension and improve joint mobility.
  • Exercise Therapy: Targeted exercises to strengthen supporting muscles and enhance jaw stability.
  • Laser Therapy: Non-invasive treatment using therapeutic lasers to reduce pain, inflammation, and accelerate tissue healing.
  • Postural Correction: Guidance on maintaining better posture to reduce jaw strain.
  • Education & Self-Care: Learn effective self-management strategies for long-term relief.

Ongoing Support & Progress Monitoring

We regularly assess your progress and adjust your treatment to ensure optimal results. Our goal is not just temporary relief but lasting improvement.

Custom Orthotics Surrey FAQs

You might need TMJ physiotherapy if you experience jaw pain, frequent headaches, earaches, or difficulty opening and closing your mouth. Other signs include clicking or popping sounds when moving your jaw and facial tension, especially after chewing or speaking for long periods. If these symptoms persist or worsen, consulting a physiotherapist can help determine the underlying cause and the best treatment options. Early intervention can prevent chronic pain and long-term complications.
TMJ disorder can be caused by a variety of factors, including jaw injuries, teeth grinding (bruxism), stress-related muscle tension, arthritis, and poor posture. Even habits like chewing gum frequently or biting nails can strain the jaw over time. In some cases, structural issues in the jaw or misaligned teeth can also contribute. Understanding the root cause through a professional evaluation is essential for effective treatment and long-term relief.
TMJ physio is generally not painful. While some techniques may cause temporary discomfort due to muscle tightness, most clients find the treatments relieving and beneficial. Manual therapy, stretching exercises, and relaxation techniques are designed to ease tension and improve mobility. Your physiotherapist will adjust your treatment to ensure your comfort while maximizing results. Open communication during rehab sessions helps tailor the treatment to your specific needs.
